Mission/Misión 

Our Mission is to provide a variety of opportunities for the children to grow emotionally, spiritually and socially into healthy productive members of the Body of Christ.  Our belief is that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life.  Our prayer is that these children may come to own this belief and live their lives accordingly.  Our hope is that we as a community be an example to our children through our love and our actions.

Nuestro Misión es proporcionar una variedad de oportunidades para que los niños pudieren desarrollar emocionalmente, espiritualmente y socialmente como personas saludables e productivas del cuerpo de Cristo.  Nuestra creencia es que Jesucristo es el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida.  Oremos que los niños  pueden llegar a poseer esta creencia y vivir sus vidas en consecuencia.  Nuestra esperanza es que nosotros, como una comunidad ser un ejemplo para nuestros niños a través de nuestro amor y nuestras acciones.

Ethics and Ingretiy in Ministry (EIM)

Dear parents of elementary-aged students in the Diocese of Austin:
The past three years have brought vast and unexpected changes. Having survived the pandemic, we have
all come to better appreciate the gifts and blessings in our daily lives, and we remain grateful as
Catholics to have our faith to ground and guide us.
Through any period of turmoil, it is vital that we remain vigilant in the protection of minors and the
vulnerable and committed to protect the young people in our care by providing well-trained personnel to
teach and guide them as they learn the faith in our parishes and schools. Another key component of
protection is providing appropriate safety education for our children, and to this end we have made a
change to our abuse prevention/safety education programming. Beginning January 2023, the diocese will
use a new educational program to help empower our children to be even more safety aware in all their
surroundings. Empowering God’s Children ® (EGC) is an age-appropriate comprehensive program
through which educators (teachers, catechists, and youth ministers) and parents will give children
knowledge and tools to understand boundaries and boundary violation and to help protect themselves if
boundary violation occurs. The change from the Called to Protect curriculum to EGC is part of the
overall change in all diocesan Ethics & Integrity in Ministry programming.
As is the case with Called to Protect, Empowering God’s Children ® provides neither human sexuality

nor Theology of the Body education. EGC uses a lesson or theme each year that is taught using age-
appropriate methods to all grade levels, emphasizing that every human being is sacred and created in the

image and likeness of God, and that our lives — body, mind and soul — must be treated with respect.
Lesson 1, which will be taught during this school year, is titled Physical Boundaries and Safe and Unsafe
Touching Rules.

 

Ética e Integridad en el Ministerio (EIM)

Estimados padres de familia de estudiantes de primaria en la Diócesis de Austin:
Los pasados tres años han traído cambios vastos e inesperados. Habiendo sobrevivido a una pandemia, hemos
llegado a apreciar más los dones y bendiciones de nuestras vidas diarias, y permanecemos agradecidos como
Católicos de tener nuestra fe para que nos guíe y nos cimiente.
Durante cualquier período de agitación, es vital que nos mantengamos vigilantes en la protección de los
menores y los vulnerables y comprometidos a proteger a los jóvenes bajo nuestro cuidado proporcionando

Como es el caso de Llamados a Proteger, Empowering God’s Children ® no proporciona educación sobre la
sexualidad humana ni sobre la Teología del Cuerpo. EGC usa una lección o tema cada año que se enseña
usando métodos apropiados para la edad en todos los grados, enfatizando que cada ser humano
es sagrado y creado a imagen y semejanza de Dios, y que nuestras vidas, cuerpo, mente y alma, deben ser
tratados con respeto. La lección 1, que se impartirá durante este año escolar, se titula Límites Físicos y Reglas
de Contacto Seguras e Inseguras.
